Introduction

Welcome to Cyber English 7!!!  On this page, you will find tentative deadlines for work completion as well as special instructions for several Offline Activities.  Please check these special instructions before completing your Offline Activities, as they may shorten some of the assignments and/or make the work a bit easier for you!

Tentative Deadlines

The following deadlines have been set up to make sure that you have time to get your English work for Semester B completed.  Please know that these deadlines are only an example, and they are based on a student who is just beginning to work on Semester B on February 25 (Monday).  You may be further ahead in your work, and if so, NO WORRIES – CONTINUE THE GOOD WORK!  Please use this as a guide to help you through this semester.

**Please try to schedule to take your Unit Post-Tests and End-of-Semester Test soon after completing the work associated with each unit.  You can schedule a testing session through Mr. Capraun.

Special Instructions

Unit 1 – Poetry Workshop

  • For offline activity titled, “That’s Poetic,” please ONLY read over the material (pages of information) and take notes.  You DO NOT have to complete any of the questions/activities, and you DO NOT have to turn anything in.

Unit 2 – Convictions

  • For offline activity titled, “Author’s Purpose,” DO NOT DO question/activity #2.
  • For offline activity titled, “Supporting an Argument,” for question/activity #2, ONLY choose and complete 3 examples from the chart (you CANNOT choose the one completed for you).

Unit 3 – Beyond Stereotypes

  • For offline activity titled, “Author’s Techniques,” please ONLY read over the material (pages of information) and take notes.  You DO NOT have to complete any of the questions/activities, and you DO NOT have to turn anything in.
  • For offline activity titled, “Stereotypes, Biases, and Generalizations,” please ONLY read over the material (pages of information) and take notes.  You DO NOT have to complete any of the questions/activities, and you DO NOT have to turn anything in.
  • For offline activity titled, “Group Discussions,” please ONLY read over the material (pages of information) and take notes.  You DO NOT have to complete any of the questions/activities, and you DO NOT have to turn anything in.

Unit 4 – Research Project

  • For offline activity titled, “Spelling Strategies,” list ONLY 5 words for question/activity #1 and DO NOT DO question/activity #5.
  • For offline activity titled, “Freewriting,” DO ONLY questions/activities on page 1.  For your paragraph, make sure that it is AT LEAST 7 SENTENCES LONG.
  • For offline activity titled, “Asking Research Questions,” DO ONLY questions/activities on page 1.  Select ONLY 2 writing assignments as listed to complete these activities.
  • For offline activity titled, “Conducting Research,” list ONLY 3 sources for question/activity #1.  For question/activity #4, do activities for ONLY 1 headline.  DO NOT DO questions/activities #5 and #6.
  • For offline activity titled, “Presenting Your Findings,” please ONLY read over the material (pages of information) and take notes.  You DO NOT have to complete any of the questions/activities, and you DO NOT have to turn anything in.

 

**If there are NO special instructions listed for offline activities that need to be completed, please just follow the instructions as they are written on the worksheets.

***If you would like your Offline Activities printed out and available to you at the vo-tech, please let me know!  PLEASE NOTE that I will need advance notice so that I can have them available to you in the Receptionist’s Office at Admiral Peary.

****Completed Offline Activities should be turned into me (either through email or they can be dropped off at the vo-tech with me or Mr. Capraun – If you drop them off at the vo-tech, please make sure that your name, your grade, and my name (Miss Hudak) is written on the papers somewhere).
